Starting in the East San Fernando Valley, the route starts Westward from the Burbank-Glendale Airport. As this is the San Fernando Valley's only commercial airport, it is important to include efficient access to and from this source of other transportation media. As the route continues West, many industrial parks and shopping areas are passed. Once in Van Nuys, at Van Nuys Boulevard the line passes a major hospital. This is not the only medical facility which would be directly accessable along this route. Along Van Nuys Boulevard are existing bus routes which provide connections to Hollywood and to the Los Angeles Airport by way of UCLA and Westwood. Still heading West along Sherman Way we come to the 405 freeway. This would be an ideal connection point for a 'Freeway Flyer' bus going directly to LAX on the 405 freeway with pickup-points along the freeway (without the detour to UCLA and Westwood). This would allow international travelers the ability to use public transportation instead of private auto to go to and from LAX. It might also be possible to contract with the Flyaway bus to pickup and drop off passengers at Sherman Way & the 405 freeway as this bus normally passes this point anyway. At this point along the route there is also the Van Nuys post office. This is a major postal facility for the San Fernando Valley. As this route continues West, the Reseda shopping district is passed next. This is one of the older shopping areas in the valley with many smaller stores carrying a varity of goods. As we pass Canoga Park we pass through another shopping district which has a varity of stores and office buildings. This too, is one of the Valley's oldest shopping areas. At Canoga Ave. is the North/South portion of the branch rail line. If this were used to carry passengers, from this point (Sherman Way & Canoga) one could connect to the Chatsworth Metrolink Station in the North, or go South to Warner Center. At Topanga Canyon, additional North/South connections could be made to Metrolink and Warner Center allowing more alternatives for these connections. As this route still continues West there is the West Hills Hospital and the surrounding medical buildings. The line could continue along Platt Ave. possibly to Valley Circle and to the 101 Freeway.
